This app gives more info for the Leaf than the OBD2 interface at most Nissan dealerships over here in Japan! Love it!
2013年10月納車のリーフにバッテリー状態など知りたかったので、思い切って購入しました。 ELM327 OBD2wi-fi でiPhoneと繋いでます。
This is a great accessory for the leaf. A few functions in particular: - better estimate of range (given your personal miles/kwhr) - state of battery health (good when purchasing car) - charging status graphs, particularly useful during a quick charge - ability to view and reset trouble codes - a few options can be set (door locking) a few changes would be nice however: - the "developer website" redirects to a forum thread - help is spotty and incomplete - the user interface is a complicated jumble As an example, how would a new user determine if his battery is healthy or not? Although its there, not one page says the word "health". However, none of these organizational shortcomings will make me me dock it a star - its just too useful!
Ive been waiting for a while for this to come out. Makes monitoring capacity degradation easy and is required whenever you are going to be cutting the range close.
A real asset for the community. Tons of data to geek out on your Leaf. You can also change modes to unlock doors upon pressing Park rather than on power off.
Noticed right away that one tire over-inflated. Would not think to check that coming off lot. App packed with useful info, helping to ease learning curve transitioning to ZEV. Anticipating more great functionality in updates to come.
I bought this but immediately found it did not work so I bought Leaf Stat...worked great!
If you have a Nissan Leaf, this is an excellent app to find out details about your battery usage and other aspects of your car. Some of the information can be overwhelming if you are not the technically minded. However having it has taught me a lot about my car and how it works. I originally had the first version 1.0.1 and the newest upgrade to 1.1.0 only made the app better. I easily connected to my OBDII ELM connector without a problem. Additionally, the creator is on MyNissanLeaf.com to help with any difficulties you may encounter. Thank you very much!
This app provides more details about your battery than any other Leaf apps out there and data can be exported. GPS logging and all and best of all the app maker is active on mynissanleaf forums so is actively making the app even better. Helped me find the right car and get my battery swapped on warranty. Big thanks! Very easy to use the only thing required is a wifi obd connector which can be found on amazon.
Ever since IOS 9, it stopped working. Opens and crashes in about 5 seconds.
I just bought a leaf and obdii adapter and then this app. It worked great last night. It crashes on startup every time this morning. I even rebooted to see if that helped. Running iOS 9.0.1.
This app is great for determining all sorts of information about your Nissan Leaf and its battery. On its surface, there is a lot of visual reporting for the health of your battery, tire pressure, state of charge, even elevation changes while you drive - all in real time. Under the hood, there are enormous amounts of raw data that it collects and will show you. It can also be set to sync the raw data in csv format to Dropbox, if you really want to nerd out and create some of your own analysis. This app is a little expensive, but for all of the information it provides, and for how much it can save you if you understand how to alter your driving based on the data, I think it is well worth it. Support is extremely responsive and helpful. If you own a Nissan Leaf, this tool is invaluable.
Be sure to post on MyNissanLeaf forum if you need help, Jim gives FANTASTIC support for his product. X.x.8 will fully support PLX Kiwi 3, but in the meantime Jim will hook you up if needed. Does exactly what it claims to do, connects fast, great stuff.
The settings to disable the car sounds do not work on a 2024 leaf
Do not understand the low ratings. This is a treasure.
Cannot turn off backup noise. Leaf 2022
I downloaded the app out of curiosity. It didn't suit me and I immediately removed it. Imagine my surprise when a day later I received a notification that the application had charged me $20! The application is free on the Apple Store. In the application itself, no windows with subscription offers popped up. I open a dispute and warn everyone, do not download this application, it is a scam!
I tried numerous times to turn off the beeping sound but the toggles on the VSP menu do nothing. I thought this was supposed to turn off these sounds. Waste of money.
I used it to find out the State of Health of the used 2016 I wanted to buy with 41K miles on it. SOH was 86.1% 2 1/2 years later, and 8,000 miles of local country driving later, my SOH is 83.3% and I still have 11 bars. This in the cold New England winters and hot-ish humid summers, living outside, no garage. Sorry app, does exactly what I need to ck the battery health, charging balance etc.
This app is great. You can see everything you need about the car. I have the le link OBD adapter. I was under the impression that leaves by was only for android phones but when I downloaded the app and connected it, everything worked!
Although it says it there in small print, this only works with an OBDII adaptor, which you need to hook up and then keep there. I thought the bluetooth alone would be sufficient.
Great to see updates after all these years! This app is a tool and you must read the manual to get the most out of it. It provides a wealth of data that helps you confidently squeeze the last bit of range from your LEAF. It’s not the prettiest design, but it’s practical and useful, like the original LEAF. I use it on every drive and have never found myself stranded thanks to the data out provides.
I purchased this app specifically to erase the P31102 battery code and it didn’t work , I had to get an android phone and buy the app again.
5 yrs later and this app is still going! There’s a new group of people buying old leafs to help save money on Biden’s crazy gas pump prices. Hopefully we see some updates in the UI. Maybe a refreshed UX !
The other features are helpful.
$20 for app not updated in years seemed like a gamble and would not do again if had the choice. I just wanted to get some more real time energy consumption data for my 2023 Leaf but the app reports a TON of meaningless stuff with very little actionable information. Lots of noise, broken features, ugly interface, etc. Wouldn’t recommend.
Tried to use the app this morning. The app crashed. No update whatsoever by the developer. Please help!!!
Have to track down and android and pay another $15 just for the battery pairing feature. Useful app but rating 1 star for not updating
This app worked fine for me until the last ios update.
Plugged in the LELink. Opened app. Well, I should say I tried to open the app. When I tap the app it just goes back to the phone screen. Literally nothing happens. I deleted the app and reinstalled it. Still nothing. This is a brand new iPhone 13 Pro Max running iOS 15.5.
LeafSpy is an outstanding tool that was very beneficial when purchasing a used leaf. After the purchase it has been a value add for monitoring the battery state of health as well as monitoring the leaf in general. One thing that I would like to see in the app is the ability to have two profiles for two different Nissan Leaf‘s so that I can select which Leaf I’m connecting to. Well worth the purchase price. Absolutely no regrets.
All the info I need for my leaf, well worth the price for what it can do.
You can get a good idea of battery state of health - and find battery related problems. Otherwise - not really useful for 2021 and later. VSP sound management doesn’t work for the latest models.
I bought the app to turn off the sounds but it seems I should have read ALL the reviews first. Cannot turn of the sounds on never leafs. Ugh.
I have the old Leaf and we’ve decided to not buy a new car and do a lot of the maintenance ourselves to save money. This app worked out of the box for us. Probably because it was originally designed for old Leafs. Was nervous about spending $20 on an app, but happy with the purchase after using it. Someone mentioned that the design is for engineers…yeah, it’s not pretty, but I’m an engineer and it makes sense to me. ;)
Looks like the vsp buttons do not change any sound. It silences it briefly for a few sec after hitting the modify button, then drive, reverse beeping, etc sounds come back. Bug to fix? Otherwise battery etc info all work fine.
I like the app but when it is open there is a clicking sound near the left tail light on my 2022 Leaf SV. The are 4 clicks then silence then 4 clicks then silence then …….
To get the noises to stop are worth it. Hope the app will one day be able to work on my 2022. Thank you James
today it won’t start it’s suspicious that Apple did an update last night. I reset my phone and now the app launches.I wish all electric cars and plug-in hybrids had this app
I can’t use this app. Refund me!
This app showed up as free on the App Store, I did not accept any in-app purchases and was charged $20. I don’t even have an OBD yet I just wanted to check the app out- and upon looking it’s too complicated for me and I prefer the dealership. I need a refund as I never accepted to buy this or saw the price just got a receipt in e-mail which I’ve requested Apple to refund. It just charged me same-day but many hours after I downloaded the app.
You got me Doc
seems to work okay. using a veepeak wi-fi adapter. took a chance since couldn’t get a response from developer and just bought it. responding to customers could definitely be better if he is still even around.
Don’t buy this. The software hasn’t been updated since 2017. I also can’t get it to work on 2019+ model years.
App has been running great for more than 4 years on a 5, 8, Xr, 12mini, iPad mini, and iPad Pro. GUI could use a refresh but it works regardless of ambient lighting. TPM feature has been a life saver!
App works wonderfully for everything EXCEPT turning off VSP sounds on 2021 LEAFs, and that’s a shame because the sounds are MUCH louder on this particular model year. Please update the app to be able to do this!
I was expecting a nice clean interface with clear explanations, but instead paid $20 for an unusable mess. Did anyone else notice that the app hasn’t been updated in 2 years! Shame on this developer. Either work on the app or make it free. Very disappointed.
OK, made a mistake and put the app on my iphone. Instead of my Android phone. How do I correct this issue without me spending $20 more for the android phone? Thanks!
Any chance this can be made to work on a Fiat 500e?
I use this whenever i am driving "longer" distances or running low on charge. I have also used it to check battery capacity of cars i am shopping for. Love the details.
Store description only states that a Bluetooth 4.0 OBDII reader is needed. You don’t find out it ONLY works with very specific ones until AFTER you buy. No support. Waste of money.
I had to purchase a different WiFi OBD 2 device to get the app to work. Then it stated working fine. Good data and clearing codes is great.
This is the worse app I ever bought it does not recognize or pair with the new obd 2 it’s a piece of crap save your money and your time l would like a full refund this app is very outdated compared to the ones on YouTube for $20 a straight rip off shouldn’t even be given away for free crap!!!!!
Hmm everyone said to get leaf spy cause it was so great. Cool buy the dongle buy the app. Cool. Can see awesome info. Hey cool can disable sounds. Hey look now all my service mode options are gone. Unplugged 12v battery and HV battery. Removed app. Reinstalled app. Still can’t undo or see the service mode options. So not only is the service mode options disabled. Now I can’t undo the settings this app did allow. Super frustrating
The user interface is butt ugly and makes no sense. Also it causes one of the relays in my leaf continuously switching on and off, many times a second, I’m positive that’ll shorten its life.
This is a great app and I use it just about every time I drive my car. The but is.......I moved to a new area with varied terrain and seasonal temperatures. The miles/kWh isn’t as accurate as I would like when discovering new routes to my destinations. I think it’s because the kWh units are too small (the degraded battery in my 2011 holds less than 14kWh. Instead, I think a GIDs/Mile feature would allow better assessment of various routes, and sections of routes, as I have 200+- of those when starting out. Perhaps a real-time GIDs/Mile reading as well as an average reading would be helpful. Anyway, thanks for the great app!
I don’t know where to start. I am an iOS developer and I am shocked that Apple even allows this horrible software in the AppStore. Completely nonstandard unusable amateur user interface. This isn’t even worth free let alone $19.
Love this app. No more distance anxiety. But no split screen multitasking mode! Slider mode works but it covers part of needed data. I have an iPad mini w/cellular and it would be awesome to have Waze & Leafspy side by side on my iPad mini! Please add this feature. 5 stars if not for that!
This app does work and provides some very useful insight into battery health. It’s also the ugliest interface I’ve ever seen on an app. To the point that it gets in the way of the information. There is very little context given as to what anything means so I usually ignore everything except Sate of Health. Needs a completely new UI!
I’m rating this at one star in hopes that it will kick start an update. I spent $20 on this and was only able to use it for about a week. I had never spent that much on an app before and will be very unhappy if I’m not able to use it again.
This tool paid for itself the day it arrived. I disabled the backup warning (it had to go) and low speed warning noises. The tire pressure monitor (TPM) is very helpful. It took about 15 mins to get the TPM assigned to the correct corner once I understood the GUI. The assigning process could be much more simple, but it does work fine. I like having the live data from the TPMs. Very useful battery monitoring tools that take some time to understand the data your getting. I found some of the change options under the service screen (if used incorrectly) detriment. The warnings are there and would recommend users heed them or at least proceed with carefully.
This app just paid for itself by letting me register the TPMS of my winter tires/wheels instead of paying a tire shop or dealer to do it. That alone is worth the app price, but it also adds all kinds of useful information regarding battery health, etc. only downside is that I wish the UI was a bit easier to use.
